Mimizu Panzer (Comiket 68, 2005), or Mimipan for short, is a fun snake clone made by Nepia World (now defunct) with some Japanese shooter elements. In Mimizu Panzer player drive a line of panzers, move around, but instead of eating enemies player must shoot them down.
As in snake game, destroying an enemy grows panzer’s tail section by one. Player have two action buttons: primary shot which is useful for takedown weak enemies, and self destruct which is not very useful unless player is desperate and looking for dying with honor.
The game objective is very simple: blow up the enemy forces in each level to proceed to the next. The only weak point of your panzer is the head, while the tail segments can be used for defensive wall. Shooting might be effective at the beginning, but at later stages most turrets are more resistant and shooting at them is a death wish since it takes forever. Since the panzer isn’t really the most agile vehicle and the later levels can be cluttered with bullets, using the tails is a must.
Whenever enemy attack the tails, the segments starts to glow and if player shoot it after that it launches a huge flame thrower capable of clearing a large number of turrets. The segments remain intact after you shot them, but you need to recharge with enemy bullets to use them again. Using the flame thrower also gives bonus points depending on the amount of tail segments you currently have. The length of your panzer is both you greatest advantage and disadvantage. The longer is easier for destroy enemies and hide behind it for defense. But the problem is less space, so you must finish the level quickly.
The game starts with three lives, and once player lose them all the game is over. However, player can continue from the level they left off with the tail length they had in the last play. Unfortunately, it’s hard to survive and forcing player to play through the entire game again.
